How can cinema and the audiovisual medium be used as a research and communication tool in different academic fields?

Since 2014, I have taught courses focused on using cinema and the audiovisual medium as a research and communication tool. By combining theory and practice, students develop their storytelling abilities through scripts, short films, reels, and animations, using moving images and sound to enhance their practice. These courses help students refine their personal narratives, giving them the confidence to express their unique conceptual visions while using film as a tool for research and representation. Through this audiovisual course, we have been able to explore a diverse set of contemporary themes, transposing different fields of knowledge, such as the Anthropocene, the Digital Age, Decolonization, Post-capitalism, and more.
